Preparing a quote request for actuators
The information to give in order to receive precise, comparable offers.
Dieser Artikel ist auf Englisch und Französisch verfügbar.

A vague request gets vague answers: each manufacturer makes its own assumptions and prices no longer compare. A structured request saves back-and-forth and quickly shows which manufacturers really master the subject.
The mechanical requirement
- Continuous and peak output torque, with the duration of the peaks.
- Rated and maximum output speed.
- Duty cycle: how time splits between motion, holding position and rest.
- Available space, maximum mass and mechanical interface (flange, shaft, cable pass-through).

Electronics and control
- Available supply voltage.
- Desired encoder: single or dual, absolute or incremental, resolution.
- Communication bus: CAN, EtherCAT, RS485 or other.
- Holding brake, torque sensor, temperature sensor if needed.
The commercial frame
- Quantities: samples, pre-series, then estimated annual volume.
- Delivery place and preferred Incoterm.
- Documents expected with the offer: datasheet, declaration of conformity, test reports.
- Date by which you must decide.
Attach a drawing or sketch of the joint if you have one. Also say what is negotiable: a manufacturer may offer a cheaper standard variant if size or voltage have some margin.
